Professor Kalaitzidis from the Volos Academy for Theological Studies will speak on the topic “Theology in the Public Space: Orthodox Perspectives”.
In his lecture “Theology in the Public Space: Orthodox Perspectives,” Dr. Pantelis Kalaitzidis will present the way contemporary Orthodox theologians understand the place of theology in the public sphere, the limits and the potential of a theological discourse in pluralistic secularized societies of late modernity, the criteria and the requirements for a public theology in connection to the challenges and opportunities for Orthodox theology, and in light of the eschatological understanding of Tradition. He will also discuss and question topics related to the place of theological studies in modern academic approaches, the curricula of Orthodox Schools of Theology, the resilience of the secular and the pending relationship between Orthodoxy and modernity.
