Theodoret of Cyrrus
(393-460/467) Born in Antioch, bishop of Cyrrhus in 423. Defends two-nature Christology; principal spokesperson of this view in deliberations that surrounded Ephesus. He did not join John of Ant to make peace with Cyril. Eranistes in 447 veiled attack on Cyril's Christology. Deposed and exiled in Ephesus 449, restored in 451 after repudiating -under compulsion- Nestorius. Anathematized in 553.
